What we collect, why, and your rights
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account on Makr, we collect essential identification information including your email address, name, and billing details. For website visitors browsing published sites hosted on Makr, we do not perform invasive behavioral fingerprinting or sell browsing histories to third-party ad networks. We collect aggregate, privacy-first technical metrics such as HTTP request paths, referring domains, browser user-agent classifications, and geographic country codes derived from IP addresses at the edge. IP addresses are processed in volatile memory at edge nodes and are never stored in plain text in persistent databases.
2. How We Use Your Information
We utilize your information strictly to: • Provide, maintain, and securely operate the Makr publishing platform, API services, and edge delivery infrastructure. • Authenticate workspace access and process subscription payments via our PCI-DSS certified payment processor (Stripe). • Deliver real-time analytics dashboards to creators showing traffic volume, top referrers, and content engagement without compromising visitor privacy. • Transmit critical transactional emails (such as login magic links, subscription receipts, passwordless verification codes, and security alerts). • Prevent abuse, denial-of-service attacks, and fraudulent activity across our global network.
3. Edge Architecture & Data Security
Makr employs a static-first, distributed architecture powered by Cloudflare's enterprise edge network. All communication between visitors, creators, and Makr services is encrypted using industry-standard TLS 1.3 encryption. Your published static assets, HTML documents, and media files are stored in globally distributed object storage (Cloudflare R2) and cached across hundreds of edge Points of Presence. Database storage for account settings and metadata is managed with strict row-level security (RLS) policies and encrypted at rest using AES-256.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We partner with select industry-leading infrastructure providers to deliver our services: • Stripe: Payment processing and billing portal management. We do not store raw credit card numbers or banking secrets on our servers. • Cloudflare: Global CDN caching, edge workers, SSL certificate termination, and DDoS mitigation. • Supabase: Managed authentication and database infrastructure with role-based access controls. • Resend: Transactional email delivery for account verifications and workspace alerts.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
Makr uses strictly necessary session cookies and browser LocalStorage to preserve user authentication state, workspace preferences, and UI theme selections (such as Dark/Light mode). We do not deploy cross-site tracking cookies or third-party advertising tracking beacons on user sites.
6. Your Rights Under GDPR & CCPA
Depending on your location, you possess specific statutory rights regarding your personal data: • Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we maintain regarding your account. • Right to Rectification: You may update or correct inaccurate profile and workspace details at any time via your dashboard. • Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You may request the complete deletion of your account, published sites, and associated records. • Right to Data Portability: You may export your content, markdown posts, and customer data in standard open formats. • Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as your workspace account remains active or as required by applicable legal, regulatory, and tax obligations. Upon account termination, your published sites, assets, and database records are permanently purged from active systems within 30 days.
